Born in Massachusetts, Dr. J’s family moved to Fort Pierce when he was a young boy. He attended St. Anastasia grade school and John Carroll High School. His college years were spent at Mount St. Mary’s University in Emmitsburg, Md. where he graduated with honors with a BS in Biology. He went on to Georgetown Dental School in Washington DC where he received his DDS and his masters degree and Orthodontic Certificate in his residency program.

Dr. J was a major in the US Air Force where he served at Hahn AB, Germany, Laughlin AFB, Texas and RAF Lakenheath, England where he was the Chief of Orthodontics and a special consultant to five other Air Force bases.

Returning home, he has been in private practice for over 33 years. He is an active member of the American Association of Orthodontists, the American Dental Association, the Southern Association of Orthodontists and the Florida Association of Orthodontists, among others. Dr. Jacobus was honored with a fellowship in the American College of Dentistry and is also the past president of the Southern Association of Orthodontists and past president of the Florida Association of Orthodontists, past president of the Treasure Coast Dental Society and is a delegate to the House of Delegates of the American Association of Orthodontists.

As a way to pass on his orthodontic knowledge, Dr. J served as a lecturer at Indian River Community College where he taught orthodontic assisting and was the FAO examiner for the Certification of Orthodontic Assistants. He was also a lecturer for the SAO Leadership Development course.

Dr. Jacobus loves spending time with his family as well as working on his golf game.
